In Salzburg, three research institutions with a core focus on Geographic Information Science (GIScience) are collaborating to advance innovation and develop new concepts and methods:
- the Advisory Commission for GIScience of the Austrian Academy of Sciences,
- the Research Studio iSPACE and
- the Department of Geoinformatics (Z_GIS) at the University of Salzburg.
Within the broader framework of the GIS Cluster Salzburg researchers at these institutions partner with other experts -frequently within international projects- along the research value chain from basic research to applied research and ultimately towards prototyping and development in cooperation with industry.
